Recently ARS had a summer outing at the Iroquois Club with 21 members present.  Although the boat rides were canceled and we were placed inside on the patio because of the possibility of rain, it was a wonderful evening.  The weather turned out to be very pleasant and the patio doors were open to the lake breeze.  Thank you to Sandy Ragozine, Tracy Chuey, Sis Lane and Pat Kaider for hostessing the event.

We did have a short meeting and discussed the upcoming pie sale on Saturday, September 4th.  All Rosarians will soon be contacted to donate pies to this sale; pies of all varieties are welcome.  If you’d prefer making pies with others, come to the hall kitchen on Thursday, Sept. 2nd at 6:00 pm or Friday, Sept 3rd at 9:30 am.  Otherwise, you may bring your pies to the hall kitchen from 5 to 7 pm Friday evening or before 8:30 am Saturday morning.  Pies will again be sold in the hall, beginning at 8:30 am

The ARS meeting on September 7 will include a presentation by Tedesco Funeral directors on “Funeral Pre-planning and discussion.”  This presentation is open to all parishioners.

On Saturday, September 11, ARS will sponsor and “Afternoon of Reflection” from 11 am until 3 pm in the parish hall.  Two Benedictine nuns of the Sisters of Catholic Rural Ministry will be discussing the book, Breath of the Soul-Reflections on Prayer.  There will also be time for conversation and reflection.  Copies of the book and a light lunch will be provided at no charge.  This is a great opportunity to take time for yourself and God.  Please call the parish office at 382-7252 or Sandy Ragozine at 382-7686 to register for this program.  You may also email Pat Kaider at tpatthelake@zoominternet.net

On October 5th, our meeting will include a presentation by Linda Ernst (Joe & Shirley Arnett’s daughter) about her business/pleasure trip to India.  Her presentation will include items she brought back from India, including some snacks to sample.

PLEASE NOTE:  November’s meeting will be on the second Tuesday (November 9th) because the first Tuesday is All Soul’s Day and there is a special Mass in the evening.  Our guest speaker will be Father John Corapi, on DVD.  Father is a perpetually professed priest member of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity. Father Corapi’s audio and video series on the Catechism of the Catholic Church entitled, The Teaching of Jesus Christ has been widely acclaimed and is used throughout the world as a course in religious education and catechesis.
The essence of Father’s message is the essential message of Jesus Christ. It is Good News: a message of truth and goodness, love and mercy. It is above all else a message of hope.

Other events coming up: Saturday, October 16 – Rummage sale; Sunday, December 5 – ARS Christmas party; Sunday, December 12 – Parish Feast Day.

One last item of interest – The Samaritan Thrift Shop should be ready soon and open for business in September.  We will need lots of help!  Help includes retrieving the shelving and racks from storage in Geneva (trailers & vans are great); donating clothing and household items; sorting out donated items and putting them on racks or shelves; helping during store sale day(s) and store drop-off day(s) which have not as yet been determined.  If you want to help in any way, please call Margaret Staahl at 382-8870 or me at 382-1213.  Any time you may give is appreciated.
