Building for the Samaritans
Monday, August 30th, 2010We are happy to announce that the building for the Samaritan outreach is about to open. Food distribution will begin from there this week (Thursday, September 2nd) and the store section should be ready within the next few weeks! This new building is a blessing for our parish and for the community! It stands as a visible sign that this is truly what we are all about . . . caring for each other and seeing the Person of Jesus Christ in the faces and in the lives of those in need.
Afternoon of Reflection
Sunday, August 29th, 2010All women of the parish are invited for an “Afternoon of Reflection,” Saturday, September 11 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm in the parish hall.
Two Benedictine nuns of the Sisters of Catholic Rural Ministry will be discussing the book, Breath of the Soul-Reflections on Prayer. There will also be time for conversation and reflection.
Copies of the book and a light lunch will be provided at no charge.
This is a great opportunity to take time for yourself and God.
Please call the parish office at 382-7252 or Sandy Ragozine at 382-7686 to register for this program. You may also email Pat Kaider at tpatthelake@zoominternet.net.
300 Club Banquet . . . . cemetery monument . . . . Mary’s Assumption
Saturday, August 14th, 2010The 300 Club banquet is held Saturday at the Station 5 Firehall. Over $3,000 in prizes are awarded to end the successful year of this major fundraiser to our parish . . . The new monument is now in place near the Stations of the Cross in our cemetery. This “tear-drop-bench” has inscribed on it the names in whose memory money had been donated for the landscaping of this area . . . August 15th is the Feast of Mary’s Assumprion into heaven. We pray through Mary that many graces are given to our parishioners and those they love.
A hearty THANK YOU to so many
Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010Thank you to all those who volunteered this past week and made our dinner fund-raiser such a success. We sereved 860+ dinners throughout the day. Mary Beth and Dave Jacobs did another awesome job as they organized the dinner and made sure it all ran so smoothly. This was just one more example of how our parish comes together, working so hard, and forming a great community as we enjoy the company of one another.

Groundbreaking for the Samaritan’s Building
Tuesday, July 13th, 2010We broke and blessed ground after the 8:00 morning Mass on Monday, July 5th. Currently a building is being erected for the purpose of distributing food to those in need, and also for a small thrift store for our Good Samaritans. We are proud of this new building as part of our parish and community. It is a visible sign to all of how we are attempting as best we can to follow the mandate of the Gospel: feed the hungryu, shelter the homeless, clothe the naked, and love one another. In the faces of those who come to this building, may we see the Face of Jesus.
Holy Cross Franciscan Fraternity Secular Franciscan Order
Wednesday, July 7th, 2010The Secular Franciscan Order (formerly known as the Third Order of St. Francis) is a community of men and women in the world who seek to pattern their lives after St. Francis of Assisi and, through him, Christ Jesus. We meet the last Tuesday evening of every month at 7:00 p.m. here at Our Lady Queen of the Americas. If you are interested, you can contact the parish (382-7252).
Welcome to our “summer parishioners”
Tuesday, June 1st, 2010
Now that Memorial Day has come and gone, we welcome in a special way all those who may be visiting our fine parish through these summer months. We are very proud of our parish and especially the hospitality with which we honor those who visit us. Welcome! Please feel comfortable as you come to pray with us. We are all one family before the Lord – no matter from where we come – different parishes, different dioceses. Welcome and let us together praise God and ask for His protection.
