ARS Minutes: 5-2-17

The evening began at 6:30 PM with the recitation of the rosary in the church, led by Joanne Cunningham, prelate. The meeting followed the rosary in Anderson Hall and was called to order by President Sandy Ragozine at 7:06 PM with 21 members in attendance and Father Jeff. We sang to Father Jeff to celebrate his birthday.

The minutes of the previous meeting of April 4, 2017 were provided to the members and with no corrections made, Barb Mulligan made a motion to approve the minutes. Diane Fritz seconded the motion and the minutes were approved.

Linda Wasson presented the treasurer’s report with a beginning balance of $2,600.32 and an ending balance of $2,267.87. Rosann Bost made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report, which was seconded by Pat Taylor. Motion carried and the treasurer’s report was approved.

OLD BUSINESS:

Dolly Werner, Bonnie Smith, Sue Drexler and Sandy Ragozine cleaned the church before Easter. Sandy thanked them for Rebecca Novosel. Diane Fritz wrapped the rolls for Holy Thursday. Sandy thanked Diane also. Father Jeff stated that “The Night at the Races” was a “stunning success.” There were 110 people in attendance and, according to a preliminary report, the profit for the night was approximately $3,600.

NEW BUSINESS:

 The annual card party is next Tuesday, May 9. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10. The doors will open at 5 PM with the appetizer table and drinks ready. The food buffet will be set up at 5:50 PM. Father Jeff will welcome everyone and offer a prayer. Dinner will be served beginning at 6 PM, with tables called by number. The Chinese Auction baskets will begin to be raffled at 6:45 PM. The 50/50 winner will be announced at 7:55 PM, with clean up to follow.
 The pie sale will be held on Saturday, May 27, beginning at 9 AM. Dee Dee Morian, Linda Wasson, Julia Catalano and Barb Mulligan will work the pie sale. If pies are not all sold in the morning, Clare Waldron & Linda Wasson will sell them after the 5:00 Mass. Megan McCoy and Amanda Darke will sell after the 8:00 Mass, if necessary. Rosann Bost will put an announcement in the bulletin and Sue Drexler will send an email to the membership reminding them of the pie sale and asking for pie donations. Pies can be dropped off in the hall on Thursday & Friday anytime or on Saturday morning before 9:00.
 Pat Taylor will again head the Graduation Award committee. She will send out the applications to Aaron Brown, Maria Corner, Peyton Morian and Brenna Prenatt. Three Altar Rosary Society members will read and score the applications.
 Carnations will be sold after all Masses Mother’s Day weekend, May 13 & 14, to benefit Right to Life.
 The Art Fest will be held in Anderson Hall May 20 – 23, following Mass on Saturday and Sunday and on Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday afternoon.
 The Diocesan “Pray for Priests” calendar lists Father Jeff on Wednesday, May 17.

FATHER JEFF’S REMARKS:

Father Jeff will be at the card party after the Parish Council meeting. He asks for prayers while he is on vacation to Italy and France. After he returns, he offered to host “A Taste of Italy and France” to show his photos.

The winner of the 50/50 raffle was Diane Fritz. She won $8.00. Sandy thanked our hostesses for the evening: Barb Boyer, Linda Wasson and Sue Drexler. Joanne Cunningham offered a closing prayer.

Joann Elwell made a motion to adjourn. Barb Boyer seconded the motion. Motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 7:51 PM.
