Altar Rosary Minutes: 6-7-16
The evening began at 6 PM with Mass in the church. The meeting followed in the hall and was called to order by President Rosann Bost at 6:45 PM with 29 members and Father Jeff present.

Jenn Artman, who has served for 14 years with the Crawford County 911 Center, spoke to the membership about a new program to begin in Crawford County called “SafeTown.” SafeTown is an easy-to-use web-based program (www.SafeTown.org) that enables you to share information with local law enforcement, fire, emergency services, and other citizens to make our community a better, safer place to live. You can register your name, address, vital information, etc. with 911. In case of an emergency and a call was placed to 911, they would be able to access any information on file to expedite their help and care. Brochures were handed out to help with the registration of your information.

The minutes of the previous meeting of May 3, 2016, were provided to the members and with no corrections made, Amanda Darke made a motion to accept the minutes. Denise Thomas seconded the motion and the minutes were approved. These minutes were not emailed to the membership or placed on the parish website because of a computer glitch.

Linda Wasson presented the treasurer’s report with a beginning balance on May 1, 2016 of $6,126.40 and an ending balance of $7,318.49 on May 31, 2016. The motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made and seconded. Motion carried and the treasurer’s report was approved. The card party netted a profit of $1,761.34. The hors d’oeuvre table, new this year, was a big hit both for the guests and the workers, as it allowed kitchen prep time without being rushed to get the meal on the table! The pie sale netted $484, selling the pies for $8.

OLD BUSINESS:
The Baccalaureate is scheduled for June 12 at the 10:30 AM Mass. Pat Taylor, graduation award chairperson, received two applications. Her committee will meet this week and the winner will be presented the award at the Baccalaureate Mass.

NEW BUSINESS:
There is no July business meeting. Sue Treacy will make arrangements with the Iroquois Club to have either an evening picnic or beverages & desserts in place of the regular July meeting.

Rosann Bost, President, is resigning after the September meeting. She cited her workload as parish secretary as the reason. The nominating committee has been notified.

Joanne Cunningham presented Lucy Pisani with an angel holding a rosary in memory of her husband, Vince. The cost was $11.99 plus tax, purchased through Kraynaks. She suggested we purchase these for our Christmas gifts to the parish shut-ins this year. Pat Gilfoyle made a motion, seconded by Barb Mulligan, to have Joanne check into purchasing these for our annual Christmas gifts to the shut-ins. Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Rebecca Novosel thanked the Altar Rosary Society, through Sandy Ragozine, for the new steamer for the altar cloths.

REMARKS:
Father Jeff spoke of a meeting called by Bishop Persico for all diocesan priests regarding a bill before the House of Representatives to raise the statute of limitations on child abuse cases. The bishop wants all parishes to put something in their bulletins concerning this. He then thanked Rosann for her service to the Altar Rosary Society as President.

Rosann thanked our hostess for the evening, Sue Treacy. Marlene Gross won the 50/50 for $12. Joanne Cunningham offered a poem by Cardinal Cushing entitled “I’m Fine.”

Mary Ann Shay made a motion to adjourn. Joanne Cunningham seconded the motion. Motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 7:39 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Sue Drexler, Secretary
