ARS MInutes:4-5-16

The evening began at 6:35 PM with the recitation of the rosary in the church led by Father Jeff Lucas in the absence of Joanne Cunningham, prelate. The business meeting followed in the hall and was called to order by President Rosann Bost at 6:59 PM with 22 members present.

The minutes of the previous meeting were provided to the members and with no corrections, Bonnie Smith made a motion to accept the minutes as recorded. Jo Ann Elwell seconded the motion and the motion carried. The minutes were approved.

Linda Wasson presented the treasurer’s report with an ending balance of $6,440 as of March 31, 2016. Ann Koscelek made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Jane Harmon seconded the motion and the treasurer’s report was approved. Father Jeff questioned the expenses of Soup & Bread and the Lenten lunch. Only the soups were donated for the Soup & Bread supper. The Altar Rosary Society purchased the bread. For the second Lenten lunch, hosted by Faith & Grace Fellowship and Lake Lutheran churches but held at Our Lady Queen of the Americas, cookies were purchased because not enough cookie donations were received. These expenses were posted to “Miscellaneous Expenses.”


New handbooks are available this evening. The Family Dinner and a Movie was moved from March 6 to March 13. The movie shown was “God is Not Dead.” The brunch on March 29th following First Reconciliation was well received. Leslie Conlin, chairperson of the event, thanked (by way of a letter) all those who helped in any way with set-up, decorating, food preparations, serving, and clean up. Pat Taylor will chair the Graduation Award again this year. High school seniors are to call the church office if an application is desired. As of this meeting, three seniors have requested applications. Nancy August has stepped down from chairing the Rummage Sale and the Christmas Party because of health issues. Installation of Officers has been postponed from April 17 due to a conflict in Father Jeff’s schedule.


The carnation sale will be held the weekend of May 7 & 8 after all the Masses for the Right to Life program. Diane Fritz & Pam Humes will sell after the 5 PM Mass; Barb Boyer & Arlene Andres will sell after the 8 AM Mass and Pat Kaider will sell after the 10:30 Mass. Candles for Work Camp will be sold again this year, beginning with the May 7 & 8 weekend. Cost of the candles is $5. The Parish Picnic will be held at Msgr. Toland Park on August 28. The Card Party will be held on Tuesday, May 10. Ann Koscelek, Diane Fritz, Jane Harmon will help with the setup with Sandy Ragozine. There will be no table decorations this year. Pam Humes has a kitchen committee in place. Sandy Ragozine will sell meal tickets at the door. Marlene Gross and a helper will sell 50/50 tickets. Carol & Susie Saulsbery will sell Chinese Auction tickets. A Basket Raffle donation sheet was passed around at the meeting. Barb Mulligan and Linda Wasson will be “floaters” to help where needed. Ruth Jezak calls for food donations. A food donation sign up sheet was passed around at the meeting. All food dropped off must be in disposable containers, as the staff will not be responsible for washing containers. “Take home” containers will be provided at the end of the meal since the staff will not be responsible for portioning out food to take home. There will be no relish trays this year. This item has been changed to dips / appetizers to be placed on the appetizer table along with veggie trays at 5 PM when the doors open. Bottled water will be available. Barb Boyer made a motion, seconded by Pam Humes to accept the card party changes for this year. Motion carried.


Jo Ann Elwell asks to be notified if anyone knows of someone in need of a card for illness, death in the family, thinking of you, etc. Sue Treacy has ideas for programs for three meetings this year. Cost of pies at the two Pie Sales this year will be $10.

Father Jeff related that his RCIA classes are over for this year, so he was happy to be present tonight. He spoke about the additions to be made to the church complex through the money made from the Catholic Services Appeal. An addition to the cemetery garage will be made to provide extra storage space. An addition to the PEC garage will also be made. A door will be installed in the PEC for safer dismissal of students. On April 14, the diocese will announce the results of the Pastoral Planning study. Rosann is doing a great job in the office. He thanked Ann Koscelek for the rolls she provided for Holy Thursday.

Rosann thanked our hostess, Pat Saeger. Florence Marsh was the 50/50 winner for $10. Father Jeff offered a closing prayer. Pat Saeger made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Jo Ann Elwell. Motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 7:52 PM.
